Viktoria Plzeň started the group stage in Bucharest against FCSB so against the same opponent as they faced in the 4rd qualifying round of the Champions League. Neither this time they succeeded in finding a recipe to beat this team and lost 0-3.

Viktorians entered the match in Bucharest quite actively. On 19 minutes Milan Petržela made a big chance but his attempt was stopped by the crossbar of the home gate. On the other side Hájek stole the ball from his opponent, however, the referee saw a foul and whistled a penalty kick for Bucharesti – Budescu scored and they got in lead 1-0. The Romanian team livened up after the goal and performed sevral fast-breaks. First, he captain Denis Alibec was stopped by the goalkeeper Aleš Hruška and soon after that Florinel Coma had an effort on goal as well. The home team could celebrate the second goal 1 minute before the end of the 1st half when Constantin Budescu scored an easy goal – 2-0. This was the half-time result.

Viktoria tried to enter the 2nd half very actively but it also meant a more dangerous game. On 61 minutes the coach Pavel Vrba substituted two players – Řezníček and Živulič were replaced by Bakoš and Hořava. Plzeň possessed the ball more often but FCSB´s defence was well-organized and it was hard to go through. On 73 minutes Bucharest appeared in a very promising position and Denis Alibec´s centre pass got behind the goal line – 3-0. 7 minutes later Vrba substituted Petržela for Zeman. Nevertheless, the fans did not see much more and the final result of the match was 0-3, Viktoria lost.
