Twenty-four-year-old defender Svetozar Markovic arrives from Partizan Belgrade and signed a three-year contract at DOOSAN Arena
The 24-year-old stopper went through the youth teams of Partizan Belgrade, then worked in Greek clubs Olympiacos and Larisa. He was also a member of his country´s youth national teams. In 2020, he was even nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award for the most promising young talents by Italian daily Tuttosport. Two years ago, he returned home from Greece to Partizan, where he later became the team captain. His next steps lead to DOOSAN Arena, where he signed a three-year contract.
"After the departure of Robin Hranac to Hoffenheim, we decided to bring in reinforcements to the defensive line. Together with the scouting department, we had Svetozar Marković in mind and we are happy that we managed to complete his arrival to our team," said Viktoria´s sporting director Daniel Kolář.
"He is a very interesting stopper, who at a young age became the captain and leader of Partizan. We promise that he will soon fit into the team and will help us during the demanding schedule, when we will have Europa League matches in addition to domestic competitions," added Daniel Kolář.
Svetozar Marković will be available to coach Miroslav Koubek for Sunday´s league match at Liberec. "I´m ready, I believe that we will get to know each other quickly and I´m looking forward to the challenge," said the new Viktoria defender after signing the contract. "I am very interested in the offer, I know the club very well from the European Cups and I will do my best to help the team," he added.
