Viktoria won the second preparatory match in Benidorm. After the match, assistant coach Marek Bakoš evaluated it.
Mark, in the second game we beat our Polish opponent 2:0. What is the assessment of the coaching staff?
"We played a solid game against a good opponent. It had energy, interesting actions. We tried some of our intentions and variations, the guys played a good portion of minutes. So the purpose of the game was absolutely fulfilled.
Four players Jedlička, Kalvach, Durosinmi and Šilhavý didn´t play. Was that also the plan?
These players were given more time off today. We divided the team into two dozen to spread the load and everyone was ready for the next days. We need everyone to play minutes, so that was our intention. Rafiu is training, but we don´t want to rush anything.
Cheick Souaré had to make a forced substitution in the first half, how´s he looking?
He´s injured, but I believe it´s nothing serious. The first reports we have are not bad. I hope he´ll be fine soon.
Amar Memic got the win with two goals, what can I say about him?
It´s great that he scored the first and the second goal. Not only for him, but also for the whole team. The two new players, Amar and Merchas Doski are both proving to be an asset and will be good.
We also had other chances, they didn´t let the opponent do anything. That´s good news for coaches, right?
From the first game against Paderborn we evaluated the defensive part and didn´t want to let the opponent into chances because he had more chances in the first game. We focused on that a little bit and it´s good that we saw a response. The guys solidified it and didn´t let the opponent into scoring situations today.
As training camp tilts into the second half, what will it look like? Will you be heading towards Anderlecht?
There´s a lot of room for improvement. There are still details we want to manage better. The overall part on the ball and possession. The cooperation between the players, the lines, getting to know the new players. Tomorrow is a new day, a new training session and we know where we still need to improve. Logically, everything is moving towards that first game.
How are you personally looking forward to the battle with Anderlecht?
The winter break wasn´t that long and we are starting with a big game, so we are already looking at the opponent. They´re playing a tough game against Bruges today. I believe we will be well prepared, both mentally and physically. I have to say that our whole team is looking forward to the game and certainly our fans.
