Viktoria played the second Champions League match in Russia. Contrary to original plans, the match was moved from Moscow to Saint Petersburg because of the pitch quality. Pavel Vrba missed injured Marián Čišovský and David Limberský. Their positions were substituted by Roman Hubník and Radim Řezník.

Viktoria entered the match in the best possible way. After 4 minutes of the game Milan Petržela shot from the edge of the penalty area but hit only Sergej Ignaševič. The ball rebounded only to running František Rajtoral who quickly scored! 1:0 for Viktoria! 10 minutes later the leading could be bigger. A long pass went to the edge of the penalty area in front of CSKA where Daniel Kolář headed the ball off the goal. On 16 minutes after Petržela´s quick break Marek Bakoš had an effort on goal but was not able to score from this close distance. On 19 minutes the score was equal 1:1. Ahmed Musa flew in the penalty area and passed the ball to Zoran Tošić. This Serbian footballer placed tha ball to the closer upright and Matúš Kozáčik was helpless. On 24 minutes Keisuke Honda had an effort on goal from 25 metres but the ball flew above the crossbar. 30 minutes later this midfielder aimed much better and gave no chance to Matúš Kozáčik. 2:1. 5 minutes later Steven Zuber attempted as well but this time the goalkeeper destroyed it. CSKA had a corner and shot but off the goal this time. Moments later Tošić checked Kozáčik again but with no result. Viktoria also had a chance to score but no team scored till the end of the half-time so the score was 2:1.

4 minutes after the 2nd half-time CSKA could increase their leading. Kiril Nababkin´s pass found Ahmed Musa who shot to the goal but fortunately the ball hit only the left upright. Viktoria answered by the shot of Pavel Horváth. Igor Akinfejev did not have to save anything this time because the ball went off the goal. On 59 minutes Milan Petržela shot from a close distance but did not aim the goal. In the following minutes the game moved from one side to another but no team created any bigger chance. On 79th minute Viktoria lost the ball and CSKA run in a quick break. Radim Řezník  blocked Musa and passed the ball to Kozáčik. The ball went under his shoe to the goal 3:1. Viktoria made it to lower the score when Marek Bakoš scored in the additional time. This was the last important moment of the match.

Viktoria lost to CSKA 3:2. They will play the next Champions League match on 23 rd October against Bayern Munich
