On Saturday the 3rd qualifying round of Gambrinus League took place in Štruncovy sady. Viktoria met an opponent from a far away city – Baník Ostrava, which this season has not experienced losing so far. Pavel Vrba decided to mix the lineup against the team where he worked some time ago. The substitutes included Pavel Horváth, Marián Čišovský, Milan Petržela or Daniel Kolář.

In spite of tha fact Viktoria was the more active team in the beginning, the first one to threaten the goal were the guests. After a quick combination Nenad Dedić shot in the 8th minute. His effort ended up above the crossbar. On 15 minutes David Limberský pushed himself to shoot as well but the ball missed the target. The same situation repeated 3 minutes later. Tomáš Wágner was more precise moments later after Lukáš Hejda´s centre pass to the penalty area. The goalkeeper Michal Bárta performed a perfect save. On 23 minutes he could stay calmer when Vladimír Darida had a unsuccessful effort on goal. František Rajtoral´s attempt was also directed off the goal. On 25 minutes the score kept being goalless. This fact was broken after Jan Kovařík´s free kick from 25 metres. He pushed the ball through the defensive wall and scored 1:0 for Viktoria! The full house burst out of joy 2 minutes later again. Tomáš Wágner gained the ball, passed it to František Rajtoral and then to the penalty area where the Viktoria´s offender appeared. Wagy shot from the first touch and after hitting the upright the ball came to him again and he finally scored 2:0! The offensive power of Plzeň was obvious even when they were leading for two goals already and had several more attempts on goal but finally Tomáš Hořava scored the third goal of the half and Viktoria went to leading 3:0! This was his first goal for Viktoria.

At the beginning of the 2nd half-time the guests were again the first to threaten the goal, namely Jakub Rolinc who shot after Lukeš´s pass but his attempt was off the goal. On 51 minutes Davor Kukec´s effort finished the same. Even though there were some stray attempts from Ostrava it was still Plzeň who possessed the ball  most of the time. On 56 minutes after Hořava´s cross Michal Ďuriš run alone to the goalkeeper and quickly lobbed him so Viktoria was leading 4:0! 7 minutes later Tomáš Hořava could add one more goal but from 10 metres did not hit the goal. On 70 minutes Kovařík found Rajtoral who shot from the edge of the penalty area but unsuccessfully. Matúš Kozáčik had some work moments later, too. Martin Lukeš had a hard shot from the edge of the penalty area. In the 78th minute Kovařík tried to increase Viktoria´s leading but vainly. Milan Petržela had three more goal chances to score but did not use any of them. Ostrava also shined in some situation but did not score any goal so the final result of this match was 4:0.

Thanks to this result Viktoria stays at the first position of the standings in the new season and their total score is 13:2 after two matches.
