There’s no doubt the Saturday’s match between Slavia Prague and Viktoria Pilsen is a must watch for the fans across the league. It’s a clash of the two most successful Czech clubs in the recent years, which helped significantly to raise the club coefficient and generated national team players. This duel is a celebration of football for the fans on both sides and as such, it should run smoothly, without any kind of aggression or hateful atmosphere that could be registered in the last matches between these two teams. The top representatives of both clubs have agreed on that and decided to contribute to the cultivation of the football environment with joint steps.

One of the first joint activities of both clubs was a meeting of the team captains, Tomáš Holeš and Lukáš Hejda, which took place on Wednesday.

“As Slavia, we want to strive for football to be the most watched, most respected, and most popular sport in Czechia. We must be able to self-reflect and have positive impact on football itself and its culture. Hate in any form does not belong in football. Fair play, mutual respect and respect for the opponent are the values set by the founders of the club. It is our duty and challenge to keep to these values. I appreciate the deal we stroke with Pilsen. We are “out for blood” only on the pitch. We agreed that we would dedicate the match to the Donor foundation. I believe we will gain the support of the fans of both clubs in this field and endeavor,” said Jaroslav Tvrdík, chairman of the board of directors of Slavia Praha.

“I am glad there was a clear agreement and cooperation between both clubs. We want to send a clear signal together that we wish the fight to take place only on the pitch. Only good and positive atmosphere belongs to such a match, not any unnecessary incidents. I am sure this joint step of the two most successful clubs of the recent years sends a clear message and it should contribute to the cultivation of the entire football environment in the future. We will present this appeal and challenge to our supporters as well and I believe an interesting match in a great atmosphere is ahead of all of us,” said Adolf Šádek, general manager of Viktoria Plzeň.

“I see the match as very prestigious. I believe that both fan bases will create great atmosphere in the stadium and that they will support their club from the first to the last minute. I wish the fight on the stands to be as much fair play as possible. Of course, we will do our best to win the match on the pitch,” said Lukáš Hejda, Viktoria captain.

His opponent Tomáš Holeš chooses very similar words before the match.

“We are really looking forward to the match. It’s the clash between the first two teams of the table. I believe the level of the match will correspond to that. We are looking forward for a unique atmosphere of the sold-out stadium and I hope we will remain in the victorious mood after the match,” said Slavia’s captain.

Wednesday’s meeting of the captains was not the only joint event. Before the match itself, Jaroslav Tvrdík and Adolf Šádek, accompanied with the representatives of players of both clubs, will head to the Motol hospital in Prague to support the DONOR organization. Both captains will then present a check for 200 000 CZK for this organization right before the match.
