Viktoria Plzeň faced Swiss side Servette at home in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. The visitors had the better of the game and take a one-goal lead into the second leg.

Right from the referee´s opening whistle, the home team put pressure on their opponents with the aim of quickly opening the scoring. They created several promising chances. Prince Adu had the best opportunity when, after a nice combination, he found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper, but in the final phase he was unable to put the ball in the net. In the 12th minute, however, Mráz took advantage of the visitors´ first serious chance, beating Martin Jedlička from outside the box to open the scoring.

Viktoria did not let up and continued to create more chances. Pavel Šulc had several volley shots, but his powerful strikes went over the goal. At the end of the half, the home team protested a possible handball in the penalty area, but the referee did not award a penalty, and so the teams went into the locker rooms with the score 0-1.

The second half continued at the same pace as the first. Most of the play took place in the visitors´ half, who resisted the red-and-blue pressure. Viktoria tried their luck from various positions. First, Joel Mall made a good save after a shot by Amar Memić, then Václav Jemelka hit the crossbar with a header. In the 61st minute, Rafiu Durosinmi also narrowly missed with a lob, but the ball ended up in the top net.

At the end of the match, Plzeň had several chances, especially from set pieces, but none of them led to an equalizer. Jiří Maxim Panoš had a great scoring opportunity when he tried to take advantage of the goalkeeper´s poor positioning, but he was unable to get past the wall of defenders standing on the goal line. Viktoria thus lost the home match 0-1 and will go into the second leg with a one-goal deficit.
