Viktoria claimed a 6–1 away win over Jihlava in the third round of the MOL Cup to secure a place in the round of 16. Prince Adu scored twice, with Stefan Pirgić, Adam Sojka, Mohamed Toure and Denis Višinský adding a goal apiece.
The hosts kicked off the third-round MOL Cup tie. Towards the end of the third minute, Ladra and Pirgić attempted a one-two, but it came to nothing. Two minutes later, Adu, back in the starting line-up, had a chance to score, but the home goalkeeper kept out his effort at the near post. A minute later, Adu made another run in behind the defence. Ladra tried to pick him out with a fine pass, but it was blocked for a corner. From the resulting set piece, Ladra fired a shot from the edge of the box straight at the home goalkeeper.
In the 11th minute, Stefan Pirgić fired past the goalkeeper following good work and a cross from Sojka. A minute later, Ladra picked out Adu’s run, and the forward made no mistake. The goals were coming thick and fast. Towards the end of the 14th minute, Tapaj made several excellent saves, but he could not keep out a third effort from inside the six-yard box as Lukáš Moudrý found the net.
In the 23rd minute, Lukáš Červ tried his luck from the edge of the box but missed the target. Five minutes later, Doski found Ladra from a throw-in, and he advanced to the edge of the area before hitting the post. Play then swung from end to end, but Jihlava created few chances, with Viktoria largely in control. Adu made another run in behind before the break, but the pass failed to reach him. Viktoria went into half-time with the lead.
In the 51st minute, Pirgić was caught by a heavy challenge, but fortunately he was able to continue. Adu struck again in the 55th minute following a cross from Lawal. He controlled the ball well on the edge of the box and fired a shot on the turn into the far corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. Two minutes later, Sojka also fired past the home keeper.
In the 68th minute, Vydra had a chance inside the box. He aimed for the far post with his left foot, but his effort was deflected behind for a corner, which came to nothing. In the 71 minute, a misunderstanding between Tapaj and Červ handed Jihlava a major opportunity, but Tapaj ultimately came to his team’s rescue.
In the 84th minute, Mohamed Toure scored Viktoria’s fifth goal. Three minutes later, Matěj Vydra won a penalty, which Višinský stepped up to convert. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle as Viktoria secured their place in the round of 16 of the MOL Cup.
