In the fifth round of the Europa League league phase, Viktoria took on Hamburg of Germany. There they played a match with Ukrainian Dynamo Kiev. Matěj Vydra and Pavel Šulc decided Plzeň´s victory after a beautiful turn.

The beginning of the match brought rather cautious football. Viktoria had some chances. Erik Jirka sent a sharp centre into the penalty area from the right side of the pitch, but nobody in red and blue found his offer. Dynamo got their first opportunity in the 25th minute and Martin Jedlička had to work for the first time. He managed to knock away Buyalskyi´s shot from the edge of the sixteen.

On the other side, Pavel Šulc tried his hand technically. Then Erik Jirka had an excellent chance, but he also failed and the score remained unchanged. Four minutes later, Václav Jemelka sent Cheick Souaré into the box with a great pass. But he did not beat goalkeeper Bushchan. In addition, an offside was waved off. In the 40th minute, Václav Jemelka tried a shot from distance, but missed the goal. The game went to the booths without any goals.

Shortly after the start of the second half, Viktoria again had a chance and again Erik Jirka was in it. This time in a much more difficult position. He managed to threaten the goal, but he didn´t beat the Dynamo goalkeeper. But then Dynamo Kiev came to the fore. The whole situation was eventually reviewed by the VAR system and then an offside was whistled.

Viktoria took the lead immediately afterwards. Matěj Vydra got around the opponent and with a weak left foot wrapped the ball to the left post. In the seventy-second minute, Martin Jedlička was again on the scene, deflecting Volodymyr Brazhk´s shot over his own goal. At the very end of the match, Pavel Šulc decided Viktoria´s victory and increased the lead to 2:0. At the end of the setup, Dynamo Kyiv managed to reduce the deficit when Vladyslav Kabaiev scored. Pilsen took home an important 2-1 victory and three points in the table.
