FC Viktoria Plzeň defeated České Budějovice 7:2 in the last match of 2024. How did Miroslav Koubek evaluate his team´s performance at the post-match press conference? Read below.

Are you happy with how the team handled today´s game?

I´m happy. The main goal was not to allow any hesitation, for example, that we underestimated the opponent. At the same time, we knew the result from Teplice, which only increased our motivation. With respect to the opponent, we showed more game maturity.

Today you made a few changes in the lineup. Was it because of game fatigue after the game against United?

It had to do with the workload. The game against Manchester United was particularly tough. As I´ve said several times, we´re data-driven. We use them to decide whether a player will start or whether he will be given time off to avoid injury, for example. So that was one of the reasons for the changes in some positions.

Looking back at the autumn part of the season, how satisfied are you with your performance?

I am satisfied. The team didn´t get any weaker over the summer. It stayed together. Some players left, but we were able to replace them. I believed we could be strong and successful. If I think about the defeats. One was against Slavia, who lead the league. The other was now on Thursday against Manchester United. The only defeat we can regret is Slovácko.

The players said they would rather continue playing instead of resting. How do you feel?

It´s been a tough programme. Once you get to Europe, you don´t get much rest apart from the national break. You´re actually playing non-stop English teams. However, unlike the players, I like to rest. (laughs)
