Ferencvárosi Torna Club is a Hungarian football club based in the district of the same name in the Hungarian capital Budapest. FTC was founded on 3 May 1899 and is the most successful team in Hungary. The club is active not only in football but also in other sports. These include handball, water polo, hockey, curling, swimming and others.

The Hungarian giant is the country´s most successful entity both at home and abroad. It has won the local league 35 times, the Hungarian Cup 24 times, the Hungarian League Cup twice and the Hungarian Super Cup 6 times. On the international stage, he won a total of two trophies in the Central European Cup. Ferencvárosi made the biggest dent in 1965, when its players lifted the FA Cup above their heads after a 1-0 win over Juventus.

With the exception of three seasons between 2006 and 2009, the Green and Whites have played in the top competition all the time. During that period, they had financial problems and the Hungarian Football Federation revoked their licence. However, this action was eventually deemed unjustified and the Eagles were reinstated to the first league.

Since 2014, the Green and Whites have been playing in the new multifunctional Groupama Arena, which was built in just one year on the site of the former Albert Flórián Stadium, named after the Ballon d´Or winner in Ferencváros colours. The Hungarians have invited London´s Chelsea for their opening match in the super-modern 23,700-capacity venue.

Ferencváros is currently in second place in the domestic competition, just one point behind first place. However, it has the advantage of a game in hand, which if successful would put it at the top of the table. Out of sixteen games played, they have scored three points ten times, had to share the points four times and left empty-handed twice.

The Hungarian side finished seventeenth in the current Europa League table with twelve points. Out of eight matches, they won four times and lost four times. In the league phase, Ferencváros faced the same four opponents as Viktoria - Anderlecht, PAOK, Frankfurt and Dynamo Kiev. Except for the latter, it lost to the other opponents. They beat Dynamo Kiev by a high margin of 4:0. The other teams he beat were Nice of France, Malmö of Sweden and AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands. The team´s top scorer is Hungarian Barnabas Varga, who has already scored six times in the league phase, which puts him second in the Europa League top scorer table.

Viktoria and Ferencváros have never met in a competitive match before. They played preliminary matches together in Benidorm during the previous two winter training camps, one ending goalless and the other with a 3-1 victory for Viktoria.
