The last preparatory match in Tyrol ended in a 1-1 draw with VfL Bochum. Immediately after the match they return home, where next week they will start the league and then play the second round of the Champions League against Servette FC.
For the dress rehearsal with Bochum, coach Miroslav Koubek had three players unavailable. Lukáš Hejda returning from injury with Cheick Souarám and also Merchas Doski, who was absent for family reasons.
On the perfectly cut turf under the castle in Kufstein, the Victorians started actively. Right in the 7th minute, after Ladra´s corner, Adu headed into the side netting, followed by a shot attempt from Pavel Šulc.
Then the visitors got in front of our goalkeeper for the first time, but Martin Jedlička made a timely run and a bravura save. Once he was helped by the bar of his own goal. Around the 25th minute, however, coach Miroslav Koubek´s charges took the initiative again and two big chances resulted. However, both Karel Spáčil and Matěj Vydra were saved by Bochum goalkeeper Timo Horn.
The first goal came after an individual action by Adua, whose centre was played by the defender´s hand and the subsequent penalty kick was easily cleared into the net by Pavel Šulc. The same player fired just wide after a while and before the break he put a centre on Vydra´s head, but goalkeeper Horn was not surprised.
Miroslav Koubek made three changes for the second half. Florian Wiegele replaced Martin Jedlicka between the three posts, Milan Havel replaced Karel Spáčil and Adrian Zeljković replaced Lukáš Červ.
In the 61st minute of the match, the visitors equalised with a shot under the crossbar by Moritz Broschinski. Immediately afterwards, Amar Memic could have scored Viktoria´s second goal, but his shot heading into the net was blocked by one of the defenders.
Twenty-five minutes before the end, another substitution was made. Pavel Šulc, Prince Adua, Tomáš Ladra and Matěj Vydra were replaced by Christophe Kabongo, Denis Višinský, Jiří Maxim Panoš and Rafiu Durosinmi.
Neither side added a goal in the final stages and our dress rehearsal ended in a 1-1 draw. Immediately after the game, the Victorian squad set off on their journey home to Pilsen. Next week on Friday we will enter the new season with a league match in Pardubice, followed by a home game in the 2nd round of the Champions League against Servette FC (Tuesday, 22 July at 19:00 in Doosan Arena).
