The West Bohemian metropolis will turn red and blue. The city, in cooperation with FC Viktoria Plzeň, has prepared three light installations on the occasion of the big UEFA Europa League matches. The first will illuminate selected locations near Štruncové sady this Thursday, when Viktoria FC will face Real Sociedad in a big battle from 21:00. Similarly, the city will be lit up on the following dates, when the matches against Manchester United and Anderlecht will follow.

"Viktoria Plzeň is achieving phenomenal success, holding its own in the European Cups for a long time and representing our city well. We are expecting several important visitors from all over Europe, led by Manchester United. It will be a feast of football and we have decided to make it more enjoyable for all Pilseners. I believe that by lighting up several places in the centre of Pilsen we will create a unique atmosphere not only in the stadium but also in our city. Once again it shows that we are one city, one heart," said the Mayor of Pilsen Roman Zarzycký. "Of course, we are all keeping our fingers crossed for the Victorians to stretch their amazing European unbeaten streak on Thursday night and ideally score their first win at this stage of the competition," he added.

The floodlighting is the result of a marketing collaboration between the city and the football club, and is in the spirit of the Victorian colours. The aim is to enhance the experience of all match-goers who come to the matches in club jerseys, scarves and other accessories. "The next games against San Sebastian, the next against Manchester United or Anderlecht will again be a huge sporting and social event. And they deserve something special," said club spokesman Václav Hanzlík.

Fans and visitors will be the first to see a light projection on the Radovánk building in Pallova Street near the municipal stadium in the form of a video mapping. The projection will be set up on Wednesday, November 6, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., when official press conferences and training sessions are taking place at the stadium. And then, of course, on Thursday 7 November, the day of the UEFA Europa League match itself, from 18:00 to 24:00.

"We will be happy and it is very welcome for fans to take photos or videos of this unique event and share them as much as possible on social media. We simply want to show our guests and all visitors to the city who come to us from the Basque Country that we are alive with football and a great footballing feast awaits us," concluded the club spokesman.

The last few dozen tickets are on sale, available online at Plzeňská vstupenka(HERE).
