FC Viktoria Plzeň lost 1:2 at home to Manchester United. The English team ended Viktoria´s streak of 25 games without defeat in Europe. At the post-match press conference, coach Miroslav Koubek evaluated his team´s performance.

How sad are you about today´s defeat?

We´re sad. We´re disappointed. We were close to extending our streak. I think we deserved a point.

Where was the turning point of the game?

Manchester United showed what a strong team they are. They showed the quality of individual ability of world class players. On the second goal we lacked more communication when looking after the standard. We lacked a player to shadow the pass. However, one of the big breaks was Matej Vydra´s missed chance. United managed to survive a lot of pressure. So I think that was the difference.

After United equalised at 1:1, you came under more pressure. Was this due to fatigue or the aforementioned quality of the opposition?

It´s the quality that Manchester United have. Coach Amorim has world-class players in his squad who can turn a game around. They have threatened us several times. Martin Jedlicka has been a great support for us. I have to be objective about this again. United had already scored a 2-1 goal earlier.

How do you rate your team´s performance?

I´m proud of the team. The boys gave their all. We were a worthy opponent. We didn´t make it easy for United at all. I think they´ll cherish the win today. We appreciate our performance again. It was a beautiful game. We proved to ourselves that we can keep up with strong opponents. This defeat will not hurt us, but on the contrary, it will help us in the future.
