Viktoria Plzeň midfielder Pavel Šulc was awarded today by the Czech Fair Play Club. He received the diploma for fair play personally at a ceremony in Prague.

The light board was showing the 46th minute of the league match. Viktoria were losing 1:0 in Karviná. After one of the fights, a player of the home team was left lying on the pitch and at that moment Pavel Šulc had the ball on his kicks, so he could start a promising offensive action and try to equalize the score. However, he stopped and sent the ball into the net.

It was for this sporting feat that he was nominated by the Czech Fair Play Club and today he received his diploma at a ceremony to mark World Fair Play Day. “I was very pleasantly surprised, I didn´t expect to be awarded like this at all,” said Pavel Šulc. "At that moment, when I saw the player on the ground, I acted automatically and stopped the game. It could have been his health, and that is always the most important thing. I would do the same thing again," the footballer was clear.

"I watched this game on TV and it was a really special moment. I immediately thought he deserved to be awarded. I´m glad it happened in the end," said Jiří Ježek, the six-time Paralympic champion who hosted today´s ceremony.

Pavel Šulc was also rewarded for his sporting feat in the match itself. He scored two goals in the second half and Viktorka took home three points for a 2-1 win in Pilsen.
