Viktoria Plzeň welcomed Slovácko at home in the 28th round. The match ended in a 2:0 victory for the Vitorians. Both goals were scored in the first half by Matěj Vydra and captain Lukáš Kalvach.
Sunday´s game at Doosan Arena started actively on the home team´s side. Slovácko didn´t keep up with Viktoria´s quick start and committed several fouls right from the beginning, for which they received two yellow cards. In the 8th minute Matěj Vydra was the first to shoot, but he just missed.
Five minutes later, he was more successful, his second attempt hitting the bar and Viktoria took the lead. The game calmed down a bit after that, but the Red and Blues had more and more of the game and were in the opponent´s half most of the time. In the 40th minute, even the Pilsen defence had to be on alert when Sampson Dweh stopped a dangerous pass inside the penalty area. Just before the end of the first half, captain Lukáš Kalvach took the ball and finished his solo performance with an accurate shot behind Milan Heča. The score was 2:0 for the home team.
Slovácko started the second half more actively than the first. It fought several standard situations, but the Pilsen defence, led by goalkeeper Martin Jedlička, dealt with all of them.
Viktoria then got back into the rhythm and continued the pressure they were known for in the first half. With quick combinations they tried to find a gap in the visitors´ defence. Defender Václav Jemelka joined the attack and fired a fierce shot from an angle, but it did not beat Slovácko´s goalkeeper. Daniel Vašulín, who was substituting, had a great chance, but shot over the goal. At the very end, Amar Memić escaped on the right side, but his attempt ended only on the back post. Viktoria Plzeň thus scored a valuable 2-0 victory and moved into second place in the league table.
