Viktoria Plzeň had an English week in the form of a double match with Bohemka. First, the Viktorians travelled to Ďolíček as part of the MOL Cup, where they fought to reach the semi-finals. The match ended in a 3-1 victory for the Pilsen team, who advanced to the top four teams in the domestic cup.
The Victorians tried to put pressure on the home side right from the start of the game and nearly changed the scoreboard. A centre from the left side was deflected in front of goalkeeper Tomas Fruhwald and after several bounces the crossbar of the home goal rang out. But then Bohemka also threatened when Yusuf tested the attention of Viktor Baier, who got a chance to stand between the three posts. The young goalkeeper easily dealt with the shot and notched his first successful save of the match.
Viktoria tried to get through the defence on the right wing, but failed. Either they were pushed out of better attacking opportunities or their combination attempts ended in failure. There were a lot of personal duels that often bordered on the rules. As the end of the first act approached, the game became more fluid from one half to the other. Daniel Vasulin got a great goal scoring opportunity, but he missed the goal in the face of the goalkeeper. The spectators didn´t see any more goal scoring opportunities and the players left the field with the game tied.
Miroslav Koubek decided to make one change during half-time. Václav Jemelka left the field, who had a minor health problem during the game and was replaced by Milan Havel. In the 54th minute, Matěj Vydra took a shot from behind the whitewash and sent Viktoria into the lead with a great shot.
However, the Viktorians did not enjoy the lead for too long, as ten minutes later the home Kangaroos took advantage of a hesitation in the Pilsen defence. Miroslav Koubek then decided to go back to the starting lineup and sent Lukáš Kalvach and Cadu onto the field to replace Daniel Vasulin and Merchas Doski.
The Pilsen team then put pressure on the home team again, with the aim of forcing the defence to make mistakes. This tactic paid off when Jan Schejbal fouled Pavel Šulc inside the penalty area and the head referee called a penalty. Pavel Šulc then converted it safely. As the match drew to a close, the match gained in intensity. Bohemka bet on one card and threw all their forces into attack. The Pilsen defence, however, did not give the home team a chance to do anything about the result, with Sampson Dweh playing a key role in turning away dangerous chances.
In the end it was the Victorians who added another goal. Matěj Valenta tackled the home goalkeeper in a sprinting duel and cleared the ball into an empty net, thus definitively securing Viktoria´s progress to the MOL Cup semi-finals.
